Peeking out through the window when it rains feels good when we’re home, but feels sad when we’re in office, sitting in our cube, where we forget the outside world and get busy in winding up the assigned tasks, fulfilling our accountability.
To get a change from regular schedule, one fine Sunday evening, I decided to visit one of the favorite hangout places in Mumbai during Monsoon. Yes, Marine Drive it is. Probably the film industry has made this place pretty reachable to the people living outside Mumbai. Which is the reason why a newbie in this city has more curiosity to shoot the breeze there than the permanent residents of this city. I’m just a sojourner though.
Although the weather was beautiful that evening, it was raining intemperately. I called my friends to wander with me but they preferred to relax at home and watch the showers through the window, sipping a cup of tea. Well, that is certainly another best way of enjoying this season, but I was keen for the marigraphy and hence decided to walk alone.
Being there was a vivid experience with soothing drizzles and pleasant breeze all around. The crashing sound of sea and its salty smell made me lurching on the bars of waves, isolating from the mob surrounding the place. Not that this was the first time I was here, but the freshness in the air made the mind construe an unexampled feeling. I enjoyed observing people with colorful umbrellas, kids with bright raincoats, couples facing towards the sea, watching the ebbs and flows relating it to their lives. A gang of local lads with a football and clothes stained in mud, a couple of hot girls fagging and crushing the stubs, minors selling roses to the lovebirds and the attuned noise of the vendors. It pretty much appeared as a celebration, just that everybody was rejoicing their own way.
Amid all this I didn’t realize when I lost myself in capturing this monsoon festivity with my cell phone. Sometimes clicking a photograph with permission and sometimes an act of voyeurism. I wish I had a Canon or Nikon that time, nevertheless my SAMSUNG STAR served as a subliminal device. Lately, I discovered that its considerable exposure to rain has flown enough water in its veins. Which resulted in a twinkle followed by shut down and now I was ready to go back to my town. The mobile is still under observation though, not sure if I’ll be able to restore the snaps I clicked, nevertheless I had a refreshing evening after a hectic working week in office.
